Phoenix carries an object with him that can only be described as magical. Its powers allow Nick the ability to sense when a person he's talking to is lying or hiding a secret in their heart - large chains and red locks appear in front of the person he's interacting with when this happens. Of course, only he is aware of these locks and can break them down with the right words or evidence.

This is the first instance it is ever used and provides a basic explanation:

Ini:

Pearl:
  You can see it, can't you,
  Mr. Nick?

Pearl:
  You can see the "lock" on
  that person's heart.

Phoenix:
  Huh, what...?

Pearl:
  This is the power of the
  Magatama.

Pearl:
  Only you can see these
  "Psyche-Locks", Mr. Nick.

Phoenix:
  (Psyche-Locks, huh...)

Pearl:
  The more someone wants to
  hide their secret, the more
  locks you will see.

Pearl:
  If it's only one, I think you
  can easily unlock it.

Phoenix:
  "Unlock"...? But how?

Pearl:
  Please use Mystic Maya's
  Magatama on this person,

Pearl:
  and let's remove the lock.

Phoenix:
  (I have no idea what she's
  talking about, but... Guess
  I'll give it a try.)

Pearl:
  You must be careful, though,
  Mr. Nick. If you make a
  mistake, it will hurt you.

Pearl:
  If you don't think you have
  the proof you need, you must
  have the courage to stop.

Phoenix:
  (Well, I've got to start
  somewhere. Let's give this
  Psyche-Lock thing a try.)

If you don't want Nick seeing these locks when interacting with your character, please comment here! Generally I'll only be activating these powers in situations where Nick needs important information and anything along those lines.
